It is with deep sorrow that we communicate the death of Martín García Valderrábano. Martin passed away on March 3, 2023 at NC Memorial Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. Martin was born on February 6, 1957 in Honey, Puebla, Mexico, to parents Rafael García and Úrsula Valderrábano. He came to the United States in 1996 and traveled back and forth to Mexico for a few years before his family reunited with him in North Carolina. Martin was known for his love for his church and its members, his passion for football and his friends and team at INTER, his attention to detail and his impeccable work ethic, but most of all, he was known for his devotion to providing for his family and making sure his daughters had what it took to achieve their goals with fervor. Martin was a man deeply loved by many. Although his cancer diagnosis changed many aspects of his life, he never changed the love he had for those around him. Whether it was with a smile, a text message, or a 2-minute phone call to ask "How are you?" she always made time to make sure people felt loved and included. He loved this way until his last breath. He was a faithful man of God, a dedicated husband, a proud father, a loving grandfather, a considerate son, a beloved brother, a caring uncle, a loving brother-in-law, a playful cousin, an encouraging and loyal friend, a committed and passionate worker, and an influential and respected leader. Every day he woke up, he chose to be courageous and show others how God was facing him in every battle. He leaves a legacy of unconditional love, selfless service, and unwavering faith. Martín is survived by his wife, Margarita Garcia; daughters, Daisy Miranda, Sonia Kay and Brittney Garcia; her husbands, Eugene Miranda and Jared Kay; his beloved grandsons, Gio and Liam Miranda, and River Kay; his brothers Angel, Rafael, Saul and Samuel Garcia; his sisters Guadalupe, Delia, Rosalía and Noemí García. He was preceded in death by his father, Rafael García, and his brother Rubén García.
